It is impossible to pick a genre to describe the music of Leah Leslie. She simply loves to sing, especially classic folk, blues and jazz. Her voice has an unusual quality; a combination of clarity and edge. A lifetime of following singers like Bonnie Raitt, Billie Holiday and Emmylou Harris has influenced her phrasing and song list, which includes familiar covers, obscure treasures and a few originals. As a touring musician, Leah travelled coast-to-coast in Canada and the US with her constant companion, a 1976 Grit Laskin acoustic guitar. The road took her to clubs where she shared the stage with musicians as diverse as Stan Rogers and Jeff Healey. These experiences make for a collection of delightfully humorous stories to accompany the songs.Leah is thrilled to be returning to Windermere, where Leah and friends will play a variety of styles, by songwriters ranging from John Prine to George Gershwin. For everyone who has followed her richly varied songs and stories on social media these past two years, the chance to see her perform in person promises to be a real treat.
